批发市场成立以来，带动白城市郊区蔬菜种植户，同时吸引了内蒙、黑龙江等城市的大量外地客商来我市场从事蔬菜、水果、干鲜、水产品的贩运，是吉林省西北部蔬菜水果的重要集散地。
该市场的成立，使蔬菜生产参与大市场、大流通、大循环，实现了商品菜的最佳效益，以此促进了生产的专业化、规模化、市场化，形成了产、供、销、服务四 位一体的市场机制，构筑了以市场拉基地，以基地带农户，以农户保基地，用基地推市场，达到了农民收入增加，集体积累增值，扩大税收，增加财政收入的目的。
该市场自成立以来，就显示出强大辐射力、带动力和发展潜力。现在，市民每天食用的蔬菜水果，基本上都从该市场输出。大量的外地客商慕名而来投资经营，市场调节能力强。2000年被国家农业部命名为国家定点市场，并给配备了农药残毒检测系统，开始设立无公害销售区。
